Thursday, April 03, 2003 A/E Features
A plot with much plotting Intrigue, imprisonment, betrayal and sexual misconduct abound in The Lion in Winter, which, oddly enough, has nothing to do with the Clark County Planning Commission. The play features a power struggle between Henry II (Final Justice) and Eleanor of Aquitaine to determine who will be Henry's successor after he becomes worm food. Of course, the outcome is no surprise to anyone who's studied their 12th century English politics, but it's still a hell of a ride. The Las Vegas Little Theater at 3844 Schiff Drive presents The Lion in Winter starting Friday. The show runs until April 13, Thursday through Saturday at 6 p.m., with matinees on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and $11 for seniors and students. Info: 362-7996.
Art, music and a leopard print leotard It's First Friday time again, so head for the downtown arts district and get arted. The monthly combination art opening, open studio and all-around art party starts at 6 p.m. This month it includes Cliff Licko's show "Creating 'Art' with Nude Photography" at the Funk House antique shop with music provided by folk duo GREEN and cellist Sarha. The Arts Factory features a number of new shows and performers, including contortionist M'takata (pictured) and Joe Cartino's grand moving sale at which you can buy cutting-edge contemporary art at bargain-basement prices. S2art will feature lithography demonstrations, and down the street at the Iowa Cafe there will be music by Poppermost starting at 7 p.m. To get between events the city provides free shuttle service. |
