Chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin?

Lounge legend Cook E. Jarr is quintessential Las Vegas and does retro proud. Wearing layers of gold chains, he belts out tunes punctuated by dog howls while a silver ball spins above his head. Recently named best lounge performer by the Review-Journal, Cook E. Jarr wants you to come see for yourself what all the barking is about. Jam with the Jarr at Harrah's outdoor Carnaval Court on Friday and Saturday nights from midnight-2 a.m. Admission is $2 for women, $5 for men.

Screw the calendar, let's party!

Despite the fact that the actual event was over a month ago, the seventh annual Fremont Street Mardi Gras Festival takes place Friday and Saturday. Will girls go wild and flash their mazoobas for the dubious reward of dimestore beads? Will colorfully dressed transvestites strut about in feathers and glitter paint? Will the Fremont Street bicycle shock troops descend en masse and bludgeon drunks with festively painted war clubs? Probably not, but there will be parades and live music by Louisiana Sue, Nathan and the Zydeco Cha-Chas and Li'l Brian and the Zydeco Travelers. Info: 1-800-249-3559.

Spin art?! We are sooo there!

The 10th annual Clark County Children's Festival is Saturday. The event features craft areas (including spin art), carnival-style games and prizes and Easter bunny photos. Performers on the outdoor stage include Hawaiian group Nani Ola, Zaza the Clown and the Blue Diamond Highway Family Band, Mexican folk dancing, jugglers and hip-hop groups. At press time Limp Bizkit is still unconfirmed, so you shouldn't get your hopes up. The event is at the Winchester Cultural Center at 3130 McLeod Drive. It runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and admission is free. Info: 455-7340.
