Late Marriage

[Hatuna Meuheret] Lior Ashkenazi plays a Tel Aviv grad student whose parents (Moni Moshonov and Lili Kosashvili) desperately want him to find a wife, unaware he's already found his soulmate (Ronit Elkabetz). Georgia-born Israeli Dover Kosashvili's bittersweet 2001 debut features a memorably frank, messy and earthy love scene. (Hebrew and Georgian dialogue, with subtitles.) Dog Star Man/Begotten

Two experimental films by prolific, influential, American avant-garde filmmaker Stan Brakhage (who died in March). Dog Star (1961-64) is a five-part work for the 1960s acid generation, a creation myth exploring inner-space; Begotten charts the trek of one tribe to the ritual crucifixion of their leader.
