Jonesing for Norah

Oh sure, at this year's Grammys, Norah Jones picked up eight of the suckers, but what has she done lately? A hell of a lot of touring, it turns out. For those of you unfamiliar with the smooth, sultry songstress (hey, who's writing this stuff? Reza?), Jones has a voice that makes grown men weak at the knees. She also manages the impressive feat of knocking the dust and hayseeds off of Hank Williams' 50-year-old "Cold Cold Heart." She plays at the Joint Monday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $55 to $155. Info: 693-5066.

Stuff and nonsense

The Palms seems to have successfully made itself into the place for slick gents' publications to party down, so it's no surprise that Stuff magazine is coming down there this weekend. That's Maxim's sister publication: Try to imagine Maxim without so many annoying big words but with a greater glorification of consumer culture and more objectification of women. In other words, exactly the market the Vegas P.R. machine is currently courting.

The "Stuff Casino Weekend," will feature a model search contest Friday, (6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ghostbar, open to the public,) a concert by multi-platinum recording artists LIVE, and a Phat Farm and Baby Phat fashion show (9 p.m. at the Skin Pool Lounge). Tickets are $25 from ticketmaster, 474-4000. Saturday there's a midnight fashion show to launch J'aime--actress Jaime Pressly's new lingerie line and a Stuff Magazine Playaz Party at Rain. Tickets are $20. Info 947-8833.
