A/E Features

Double duty

Russ Merlin, who combines comedy, gadgets and an extensive mask collection to deliver laughs, has recently added the role of sprinter to his resume. Most nights, Merlin flits from one end of the Strip to the other for appearances in two different production shows: V-The Ultimate Variety Show at the Venetian and Showgirls of Magic at the San Remo. Info: For V, call 414-2001; for Showgirls of Magic, call 597-6028.

The best dancing this side of Dance Dance Revolution

Twyla Tharp is bringing her company to the Artemis Ham Concert Hall at UNLV. If you're unfamiliar with Tharp's work, we suggest you turn off that videotape of "American Idol" and catch the troupe of the greatest living modern dance master. The performance is at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets range from $25 to $46. Info: 895-2787.

Deadpan. Rhymes with bedpan

Steven Wright does mind-twisting comedy with a delivery flatter than Ben Stein and Al Gore combined. Wait a minute. Has anyone ever seen those two together? Hmmm. Wright performs at 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday at the Orleans. Tickets are $34.95. Info: 365-7111.
