Thursday, February 27, 2003 Filmmakers' support group gathers
Vegas Independent Producers, a support group for those interested in making independent films in any format, is seeking more members. The group meets the first Sunday of every month from 4-5:45 p.m. at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. There are no fees or dues. The next meeting is March 2 and will feature a roundtable question-and-answer session. VIP hopes to enhance communication within the local community of independent filmmakers. Individuals may screen their films to the group, but meeting time needs to be reserved in advance. Everett Everett, owner of Autarky Entertainment, moderates the get-togethers. "This is a very new group," he says. "People can go on the web to seek film information, but it is worldwide. This is lots more local. Bring your questions and be involved." For more information about VIP, e-mail to viproducers@yahoo.com. The group also has a free monthly newsletter in which it posts announcements concerning the availability of film-related equipment and information about upcoming educational events or meetings.--Barbara Scherzer |
