A/E Features

Because the Vietnam War was so gosh-darned musical

Miss Saigon, the epic musical love story, comes to the Aladdin Theatre for eight performances. The show features the fall of Saigon, the plight of those left behind and the best singing pimp since Huggy Bear: The Musical. Among the stars of the North American tour are Jennifer Hubilla and Alan Gillespie, above. The show runs Tuesday through Sunday at 8 p.m. with 2 p.m. matinees Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $31-$91. Info: 785-5000.

There's art on Boulder Highway?

Of course there is, has been for a while. The Katherine Gianaclis Park for the Arts and Five Finger Miscount are presenting a group show called Twisted, featuring art by Mark T. Zeilman, Daniel Gron, Heather Baron, Ruckus and the above-featured KD Matheson. The show runs through May 30. Katherine Gianaclis Park for the Arts is at 5690 Boulder Highway (just south of Tropicana Avenue). Info: 451-8608.

Been there. Done that. Puked on the carpet

Gin Blossoms. Spin Doctors. Suddenly we're swamped with visions of the room whirling in wild abandon as we cling desperately to the bed and our collective noses swell and redden with a road map of overstressed capillaries of Oscar Goodman proportions. Perhaps we should seek counseling. In the meantime, those two bands (pictured: Spin Doctors) are playing Saturday at the Stratosphere. The show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets run from $25-$32. The Stratosphere is located at...good God, people, how could you not know where it is? It's that giant phallic symbol on the Strip. Info: 380-7111.

Master of mutants

Chris Claremont didn't create the X-Men, but for 17 years, during which the band of comic book mutants achieved unprecedented popularity, he was their primary scribe. It's quite probable he's typed the words "snikt" (Wolverine popping his claws) and "bamf" (Nightcrawler teleporting) more than anyone. He's also a novelist who's penned a few books with some guy named George Lucas. He'll be hanging out and signing autographs at Tim Boal's Comics Oasis at 4250 S. Rainbow Blvd. from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Then he heads around the corner to Brenden Theaters at the Palms for a VIP meet-and-greet from 5:30-7 p.m., followed by another autograph session from 7 to 8:15 p.m. For more information, call Tim Boal's Comics Oasis at 222-1668 or Brenden Theaters at 228-0398.
