SLOW GROWTH: Last month's county Growth Task Force meeting was a real snooze, with committee members slogging through points of process while grazing on Jimmy John's box lunches. This meeting promises more fireworks, though, as the panel is going to start talking about water--a resource that will likely continue to dwindle during the coming months of meetings. Just make sure to grab a bite before you arrive; the meetings are three hours long and only the task force gets a free lunch. Public comments are permitted at the close of the meeting. Tue., March 30, noon-3 p.m., Winchester Community Theater, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Info: 455-3558.
THRONE OF POWER: If you're at all curious what it feels like to wield the gleaming sword of righteousness against the evil minions of The Man, you might consider applying for the vacant seats in the Citizens Advisory Councils of Red Rock and Lower Kyle Canyon. The CACs hold public forums twice monthly on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and then disseminate the information to the County Commission. Applicants for the positions must be 18 years old and qualified electors within the Red Rock or Lower Kyle Canyon CAC boundaries. Applications must be received by May 11. Info: 455-0341.
