Two kinds of whiners deserve to have their earlobes flicked mercilessly this week. First, the Rush Limbaugh-fueled whiners who complain about paying taxes. Everybody except Halliburton has to pay taxes. You are not being singled out. You may be surprised to learn that you are not special. Also, quit being such hypocrites. You pay taxes so you have public services as your disposal, such as the roads and highways that conveniently transport you to Wal-Mart to buy your wardrobe and Little Debbie dinner items.

The second group is related to the first: the people who wait until the last day to file their tax returns. The TV stations dutifully dispatch a reporter to the Sunset Road post office to interview these clods who don't have enough sense to file on April 14, let alone a month or two earlier. It's your fault and yours alone that you spent Thursday night waiting in line halfway across the valley and missing your beloved wrestling show.--Geoff Schumacher
