Once Upon a Time ... When We Were Colored (PG, 115 min.) Tim Reid's 1995 drama chronicles the postwar coming-of-age of a young man in a small town on the Mississippi Delta, where the tight-knit African-American community grappled with the racism of the segregated South. Based on the autobiography by Clifton L. Taulbert and starring Al Freeman, Jr., Phylicia Rashad, Isaac Hayes and Richard Roundtree. In the Holy Land, however, James is arrested as a suspected illegal immigrant, only to be "rescued" by a manpower agent seeking migrant workers.
