DONKEY PUNCH: The Nevada Democratic Party is recruiting volunteers to help presumptive Democratic nominee John Kerry beat down a Texas oil dynasty like only an old-money, East Coast liberal can. Local party organizers need volunteers to help register voters, operate phone banks and canvas neighborhoods. They may also need someone to handcraft pinatas shaped like John Ashcroft, but word on that will have to wait until after the Democratic National Convention. Info: 737-8683.

ELEPHANT STAMPEDE: Not to be outdone by do-gooder social Democrats, the Clark County Republican Party is looking for volunteers of its own. The responsibilities are basically the same--although the GOP currently boasts larger buttons. The party office cannot offer any pay, but it can promise generous tax incentives for those that make more than $200,000 per year. Info: 258-9184.
