A/E Highlights

Wait, those aren't ladies

We demand a recount. If we're going to write about a band called Barenaked Ladies, there better at least be a decent wardrobe malfunction to enjoy. No? Oh, all right. They're playing at the Mandalay Bay Events Center Friday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35-$45. Info 632-7580.

T-Rex keyboard player attempts comeback

There's hardly anything sadder than some washed up bit-player trying to regain some fleeting glory from 35 years back. Sure "Bang a Gong" was a passable hit. Yes, Elton John's signature keyboard playing contributed greatly to the song. We admit it, that was one hell of a glissando you threw in there. But really, is that enough to warrant an entire stage show in a giant state-of-the-art theater? Sir Elton plays at Caesars Palace Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $100-$250. Info: 474-4000.

A Guinness with a gin, please

Tonight, Mayor Oscar Goodman will be at Brendan's Pub presenting a key to the city to Bill Medley and members of the Righteous Brothers Band. Never mind that Brendan's Pub, across the street from the Orleans, is several miles outside the mayor's jurisdiction. Maybe Bill and the Bros couldn't swing a ride downtown. And besides, they just don't give keys to the unincorporated county. Admit it, you always wanted to see someone hand out a key to the city. The event will be from 5-6 p.m.

Hey! What's he doing here?

Oh, we see how it is, Kenny Rogers. You're all over the airwaves claiming some little pissant California casino is just as good as Vegas. Now you're crawling back here. Well, let us tell you something, roaster boy, we...ah hell, we know when to fold 'em. We just can't stay mad at y'all. Kenny's playing at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Las Vegas Hilton. Tickets are $45-$55. Info: 732-5755.
