Thursday, March 18, 2004 2 AM: Club life with Meme Hsu
Once upon a spring break night, I was out with my friends, two of whom were having some major "I'm too shy to make the move but I want to ride you like an animal" issues. Sitting in VIP with a bottle, I decided to help out my horny friends. I proposed a game. I asked everyone, after a few drinks, to kiss everyone to the right. They all did. My friends started making out like crazy. After the free porn show was over, I asked everyone to kiss the person to the left. Once again, they were thrown into a fit of passion as the rest of us watched with great interest. How could I have known I was opening a Pandora's box? By the end of the night, everyone had kissed everyone else, and there was a lot of dry humping on and off the dance floor. I had my first girl-on-girl kiss, and at some point I think I was giving away lap dances to everyone at my table, my favorite bouncers and the cute general manager. Oh, wait...that wasn't spring break, that was a typical weekend! Anyway, spring break is in full swing and I'm looking forward to the new, young, hot, "don't let me go home without a good story" tourists. I think it's our duty not to disappoint these Vegas virgins. Let's give them a time they will not forget. Our mission is to provide one night that will never be spoken of again, a night whose details will be repeated again and again like some high school football moment of greatness. So this weekend, make me proud!
Best place to make out I was out with some friends when we met up with my friend John at OBA at the House of Blues, inside Mandalay Bay. He invited us up to visit the lounge. I followed like a good little girl because when a hot guy tells me to do something...all I can do is do it. The lounge was unique. There was one main bar that made up half a wall. There were booths lining the walls and enough good-looking people to make you instantly hot, but comfortable in that it wasn't mosh-pit full. We got a booth overlooking the House of Blues. It was awesome. HOB was packed and the music was great. The booth was comfortable and the atmosphere was sophisticated and sexy. There are throw pillows for the booths, candles on the tables and plenty of privacy. This is definitely the place to seduce your prey. Open Wed.-Mon. for late-night lounging. (OBA, 221-2583)
Get with the program Ice is wising up and opening on Thursday nights. Starting today, March 18, guests can dance and flirt to classic R&B, soul, funk and commercial. Ice is located at 200 E. Harmon. (Ice, 699-5528) Over at Rain in the Desert, Slammin' Steve will be giving away CDs during "Drenched Thursdays." His new CD is House of Slam. Not a good title, perhaps, but should be worth checking out. Doors open at 11 p.m. (Rain in the Desert, 938-9999; Slammin' Steve, www.slamminsteve.com) If you need a place to play on Tuesday night, hit the Ghostbar for "Always on Top." The Ghostbar is one of Las Vegas' favorite ultralounges. Tuesday nights are hosted by DJs R.O.B. and Hollywood. Doors open at 10 p.m. (Ghostbar, 938-9999)
Rent parties for charity The cast of the hit Broadway musical Rent along with A Source of Joy Promotions, is hosting an HIV and AIDS awareness benefit at Prana inside the Desert Passage mall at the Aladdin. The party will begin at 10:30 p.m., immediately following the opening-night performance of Rent at the Aladdin Theater on Friday, March 19. Admission is a $10 donation. Dress code strictly enforced, must be 21 and older to attend. (Prana, 650-0507; Source of Joy Promotions, 798-5090) |
