2 AM: Club life with Meme Hsu

Carpe diem is Latin for "seize the day." Now, more than ever, I seem to be doing just that. Taking risks in everything from work to love. Just the other day, I met an amazing-looking guy at Best Buy and held my breath a little as we exchanged numbers. I would like to tell you about how we hit it off, that he thought I was the answer to life and how we clicked in more ways than one, but to be honest, he never called me.

My friends think I'm crazy but I don't think so. There is so much in life that we want and so many reasons to hold back, but that's not for me. I jump in without looking and take risks in everything I do, always giving 100 percent. Why? Because I like to think that one day, when I look back on my life, I will not regret a thing.

Saturday, I worked 10 hours and was ready to head home when my girlfriend Rebecca Armstrong called. "Becs" is a goddess. Not only is she a beautiful girl, but the only thing that surpasses her incredible looks is her amazing spirit and kind heart. I met Becs at Ice. (Oh, did I mention that Becs is also incredibly hooked up?) We got to Ice at 12:30 a.m. and were greeted by her friend DJ Yuda, resident DJ at Seven nightclub. He showed us to a VIP area where we drank and listened to the stylings of one of Europe's best DJs, DJ Rene Vidal, from Amsterdam. Vidal is awesome. His authentic electronic sound is masterfully intermingled with the sounds of today's hits and yesterday's best. He has an inspiring way of keeping the dance floor moving and the crowd going all night.

After Ice, Vidal moved over to Seven. As good followers, Becs and I headed over with the rest of the late-night zombies to continue the party. The nightclub was hopping, and, as usual, the night only got better and better.

Becs and I spent most of the time sipping Cristal champagne with the owners of Seven, hanging out in the DJ booth and watching Vidal. By the end of the night, well...more like as the sun began to rise in the sky to greet the morning air...Becs and I walked out of Seven with our spirits high and waiting to say sweet dreams to the sun and get some well-deserved sleep. Hungry for something new?

There is nothing sweeter than having more choices in nightlife. The newest development on the Las Vegas club scene is Tangerine at TI, a partnership between TI and partners Jennifer Worthington and Robert Frey. Tangerine is set to open on the Fourth of July weekend, bringing a swanky new vibe to the Strip. A seductive staff of beautiful bartenders and burlesque dancers will tantalize guests with the hottest new trend in entertainment: pin-up girls come to life. Tangerine will feature an indoor lounge and outdoor deck, plus DJs spinning rock and dance with musical interludes highlighting the burlesque revue.

Like myself, Tangerine will have two personas. While I am trying to conquer the world in a suit during the day, Tangerine will be all about daiquiris and steel drums. By nightfall, we will both transform. It will become a sexy, dynamic nightclub and lounge at night. Cover charges will apply, pending day of the week and for special events. Hours of operation have not yet been determined. Bottle service will be available. (Tangerine employment and special event inquiries, 212-8140)

Hookin' you up

People are always giving me VIP passes, free alcohol and lots of weird stuff, and I want to pass those things on to you. Send me an e-mail at meme@memehsu.com and I will hook you up with something. Up for grabs this week are free movie rental passes for Hollywood Video and the ability to get you on the VIP list for OPM on Thursday, May 20. Remember, it's all while supplies last.
