WATER FRIENDLY: Ask yourself this: What's going to happen when Las Vegas starts pumping water out of central Nevada, and the whole thing collapses like a culinary school quiche? I'll tell you one thing, there will be a lot of angry cowboys coming down to the big city with pitchforks in their hands and thoughts of animal love in their hearts. Plus, some other bad stuff, like drought and climate change, will probably happen. Find out for yourself when Tom Myers, a hydrogeologist, gives a groundwater workshop on Tue., June 1, at 6 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church (2100 S. Maryland Parkway). Info: 791-1965.

KID FRIENDLY: Kids like shiny things, kids like loud things, kids like sweet things and kids like clowns. Thankfully for them, Gasoline Alley's Fifth Annual Birthday Bash will deliver show cars, hot rods, funnel cakes and clowns. And best of all, it's all for kids. Last year's event raise $10,600 for Speedway Children's Charities and the children of Southern Nevada. Sun., May 30, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Eldorado Park, 5900 Camino Eldorado, North Las Vegas. Info:632-8253.
