A/E Highlights

It's a blast! Argh. We already hate ourselves for that

The Atomic Testing Museum has its grand opening Sunday. It's sure to be a nifty place where people can see what happened when those guys that got shoved into lockers in high school get hold of the ultimate M-80. The event begins at 1 p.m. at 775 E. Flamingo Road. Admission is free. Info: 794-5151.

Is that a tentacle in your pocket or are you just happy to see us?

Anime Vegas will show some of the latest in Japanese anime films. Here's an understatement of a warning: Some shows may not be appropriate for all ages. Hell, we're not sure we're old enough to see some of those suckers. They start at 11 a.m. Saturday at the West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd. Admission is free. Info: 507-3940.

You were warned

If you were planning to head for the hills or to Canada, you had plenty of time to do so. He's here, he's...here. Get used to it. Barry Manilow starts his gig at the Las Vegas Hilton Wednesday from now probably until the Apocalypse, which, if we're reading our Revelations right, this is a clear sign of. He'll perform at 9 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 7:30 and 10 p.m. Saturdays. Tickets are $85-$225. Info: 732-5755.

The Golden Nugget made a lot of great changes under those crazy reality show Internet guys. We certainly hope the new management will carry on the momentum, but we're a tad nervous. First advice to the new boss: Get Tony Bennett, the greatest living singer (take that, Pavarotti), to keep coming back to perform. He plays there at 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Tickets are a steal at $100. Info: 386-8100.

Well, that would explain the shoes

Punk Rock Bowling. Nope, we can't get a grip on that yet. Say it with us. Punk Rock Bowling. Sorry, no, it's too much to absorb; we'll have to just go experience it and hope for the best. The bowling is from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Gold Coast. There are a whole passel of events and parties related to this. Info: www.byorecords.com/bowling.

Hey! Look at us! We're over here! We're still pretty!

It's tough when the new kid rolls into town and steals all the attention away from you, even if that new kid is your little sister. Rest assured, they haven't started flashing their boobs over at Zumanity just to get get the attention back. They were doing that anyway. Zumanity, the kinky side of Cirque du Soleil, plays at 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday through Tuesday at New York-New York. Tickets are $65-$125. Info: 740-6815.

It's all fun and games 'til someone loses an eye

...then it's just a game: "Find the Eye." Penn and Teller perform at 9 p.m. Wednesday through Monday at the Rio. Tickets are $70. Info: 777-7776.
