A/E Highlights

Former Olympians, we salute you

Look, it's a harsh reality, but there's something like 6,000 contestants in the Olympic skating competition and only a small handful get to tour with Brian Boitano. The rest? Well, when you see that skater in the 80-pound fun fur monster outfit doing a triple Lutz, applaud just a little harder. Disney on Ice's Monsters Inc. starts Wednesday and runs through Sunday the 23rd. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. with additional shows at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $13-$42. Info: 284-7777.

Sing, Opera Boy, sing!

He filled in for Andrea Bocelli in a duet with Celine, he sang at the Olympics and Rosie O'Donnell dubbed him "Opera Boy." Josh Groban will be performing Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Double Down. No, wait, we mean the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Tickrets are $40-$115. Info: 632-7580.

We're not worthy, we're not worthy

Sometimes we think we're funny and thought-provoking. Then we see Lewis Black again. He's performing (and giving us an inferiority complex) Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the House of Blues. Tickets are $27-$42. Info: 632-7600.

Are straight geeks welcome as well?

Those of us of the geek persuasion appreciate the outreach program but the politically correct term is SF, not SciFi. Cripes, the next thing they'll be saying trekkie instead of trekker. The LesBiGayTrans Science Fiction Club will be hosting SciFi Friday with showings of episodes of "Andromeda," "Stargate SG1" and "Battlestar Galactica." It starts at 6:30 Friday at the Pride Factory, 953 E. Sahara Ave. Admission is free. Info: 212-7026.

Hey, wait a minute, is this edutainment?

Not everyone wants to go to events that are strictly bare flesh-, car chase- and poop joke-based. Israeli Ambassador Daniel Ayalon lectures on "Prospects for Peace in the Middle East" at 7:45 Tuesday at the Artemis W. Ham Concert Hall. Tickets are free, but they are required. Info: 895-2787.

Feed your head

Hey, we can toss out the Jefferson Airplane lines just as well as anyone. Go chasing rabbits! Hookah-smoking caterpillar! The white knight is talking backwards! Okay, we're tired now, we have to go lie down. 5ive Finger Miscount presents Alice When She's Ten Feet Tall, featuring original work by Amy Sol and Mike Griesgraber. The opening is at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Gallery Au Go-Go at 4972 South Maryland Pkwy. It's an all-ages event. Info: 419-5681.
